Halloween Contact Lenses

By Mike Walker

Halloween contact lenses are the perfect accessory to complete your Halloween costume. These lenses are very popular, and are being worn not only at Halloween, but for other fancy dress occasions, and some of the less dramatic lenses can even be worn year round.

There is a great variety to choose from, so there is something to suit almost every outfit! If you want to have the most stand-out outfit at Halloween, this is the way to go! As with all contact lenses, crazy contacts must be cared for properly, and so must your eyes. It is always a good idea to visit your local eye doctor before purchasing crazy lenses, and follow the advice given to you. You need to be careful with your eyes, as it is very easy to introduce bacteria into them that could cause an eye infection. The most important thing to remember is to always wash your hands thoroughly with warm water and soap before putting your lenses in or taking them out.

Only used approved contact lens solution to wash and store your lenses, as other homemade solutions or tap water are not sterile, and may contain bacteria that harm your eyes. Never share your lenses with anyone else, as this is another way that bacteria can get in your eyes. If you are wearing crazy contacts for a dress up or Halloween party, chances are you will probably be wearing make up as well.

A few things to keep in mind when wearing contact lenses and make up is to always put your contact lenses in before applying make up. Use hypo-allergenic make up, and look for eye make up that is specifically for contact lens wearers or for sensitive eyes. When applying eye make up, close each eye as you brush the make up on, and be sure to brush excess powder off before opening your eye to prevent any make up getting in your eye or on your lens. It is best to use pressed powder eye make up rather than loose powder as this is less likely to flake off into your eyes. When removing your make up at the end of the night, wash your hands and then take your crazy contact lenses out before wiping off make up.

Now that you have a few tips on how to keep your eyes safe and healthy when wearing Halloween contact lenses, you can have a lot of fun scaring all your friends! Dress up as a vampire, go as a ghost, chose your favorite animal, and match your lenses to suit! If you have any problems or concerns about your lenses, contact your local eye doctor for advice.
